Revolutionize Your Printing Business with the Konica Minolta IQ-501 Processor: A Game-Changer for Commercial Printers from Production Print Direct.
Now seems like a great time to re-introduce the extraordinary IQ-501 Intelligent Quality Processor from Konica Minolta. In my opinion the product description doesn’t go far enough. It’s a gamechanger, and I don’t say that lightly.
Since digital presses became mainstream, around 2008, incidentally around the time KM introduced the C6500, customers could see the great potential for implementing digital into their production processes. But with this came expectations which at this point, hadn’t yet been invented. Manufacturers made promises around accurate registration, Delta E and quality consistency but were often found to be tweaks and marginal improvements on the last “box” installed.
Enhanced Productivity
All this meant that operators spent inordinate amounts of time, playing around with settings to match the capabilities of a four colour Heidelberg or Komori press. For example, having made an investment of say £30-100k on the former, in comparison to several hundred £000’s on the latter.
Having now seen several of the IQ-501’s in action, the difference between previous models of engine and competitor machines, that don’t have such a thing, is revolutionary. For a start, once the media is automatically measure by the IQ to include weight, surface and size, a profile is applied to the saved media type. This is then selected within the RIP controller and all necessary adjustments are made to the engine. A constant stream of measurement data between the paper feed and the engine output, ensures highly accurate back to front registration, without the need for manual adjustments. At the same time of printing, each sheet is scanned by spectrophotometer and densitometer to ensure there is no drift in quality. Real-time adjustments are then made without operator intervention.
Simplified Operations
As if it wasn’t remarkable enough, the IQ can also scan printed output and apply a number of fixes automatically. That would nearly always have meant an engineer callout to perform.
As demand for same day digital print increases, buyers need to understand how manufacturers are meeting these demands through technology. Ricoh, Canon, Xerox, Fuji will all be rushing to bring product to the market, but all the while Konica Minolta have perfected the automation process with the IQ-501. To ensure our customers get the most from their investment. We have worked hard to fully understand how the IQ processor works with the engine, controller and paper feed. We have done this so our customers can grow the business, ensuring digital production is one less thing to worry about.
